I just finished reading the book "Treasuring God in Our Traditions" by Noel Piper. I was reminded by Noel that as a parent I am to "teach (God's word) to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise". I was suddenly reminded of the priviledge that I have as a parent...an overwhelming responsibility to teach my son about our saviour God! Micah seems so young to me, not able to talk yet (he is taking his time apparently, and he is a boy :)

The most practical thing that she taught me in this book was to start personal devotion time with children when they are very young. She would set her three year old children by a CD player and have them listen to Bible stories on tape. She said that it creates a habit of children meeting with God everyday.

Noel challenged me to use everyday traditions and celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, funerals, and holidays to establish traditions that will teach my son more about Christ. This was an excellent book with some practical ways to teach children about Christ in everyday activities. I pray that God will allow me to be a good teacher about Him everyday, so that if it be God's will, God will save Micah someday.
